CTBR Staff Writer Published 06 December 2012

UK-based Blue Energy will invest $400m for the development of a 155MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Ghana.

Construction and installation will be executed by Mere Power Nzema and on competition the project will increase the country's electricity generation by 6%.

Mere Power Nzema project director Douglas Coleman is reported to have told the BBC, that the company was in all readiness to commence construction.

"The project has land, it has planning consent, it has a generating licence, and it has received a feed-in tariff, it is the right plant in the right place at the right time," said Coleman.

The plant will employ 630,000 solar photovoltaic modules and is expected to be completed by early 2014.
